The example below is repeated from the section on proximity. It's nice and clean, but notice in the second design how much of a difference a little contrast can make.

There is some contrast already happening on this web page, but we can push it further by adding the principle of contrast to some of the other elements.
I hope you're starting to see how important contrast is to a designed piece, and how easy it actually is to add contrast. You just have to be conscious. Once you have contrast, elements of it can be used for repetition.

All I did was add a bit of a dark-colored background. The page is much more dynamic and interesting to view.
