Get Set Up

1. Copy the Lesson_04_Links folder (inside the DWMX2004_Project folder) from the Outbox.
2. Paste it into your DWMX2004_Project folder.
3. Rename it lastname_Lesson_04_Links, where lastname is your actual last name.

In the lastname_Lesson_04_Links folder, you will now find:

1. lesson04.pdf - the tutorial instructions
2. an Images folder
3. the following HTML files: ca_lights_map.htm, culture.htm, history.htm, introduction.htm, profiles.htm, technology.htm

 

Exercises

1. Read pages 120-141 of the Lesson.
2. Complete all the exercises.
3. Your final introduction.htm page should look like the image below.

4. I will be checking for these completed tasks in your introduction.htm page:
   1. The link colors should be #333366 (Link), #3333FF (Rollover), #333333 (Visited), and #333366 (Active).
   2. There should be links to the History, Technology, and Culture pages within the first bulleted list on the page.
   3. There should be a new paragraph after the list of lighthouse terms which says Suggest more lighthouse terms and links to an email address.
   4. The Lighthouse Resources graphic near the bottom should link to links.htm.
   5. The More Lighthouses graphic should link to http://www.pbs.org/legendarylighthouses/index.html and open the linked page in a new browser window.
   6. Lights of the Coast at the bottom of the page should link to an email address.
5. Your final profiles.htm page should look like the image below.

6. I will be checking for these completed tasks in your profiles.htm page:
   1. Each lighthouse name at the top of the page should link to the informational paragraph about that lighthouse lower on the page.
   2. "Back to Top" at the very bottom of the page should link to the top of the page.
7. Your final ca_lights_map.htm page should look like the image below.

8. I will be checking for these completed tasks in your ca_lights_map.htm page:
   1. The topmost circle on the map links to http://www.pointcabrillo.org and opens the page in a new browser window.
   2. Each of the lighthouse names (top right) link to their respective informational paragraphs on profiles.htm

 

Turn in Your Files

1. In My Documents, navigate down into your root folder and then into the DWMX2004_Project folder.
2. Right-click on the lastname_Lesson_04_Links folder and select Copy.
3. Navigate to the Inbox and then into the DWMX2004_Project folder.
4. Right-click on the Lesson_04_Links folder and select Paste.
